This year, National Children’s Week runs from 19 to 27 October. With a permanent theme of ‘A caring world shares’, Children’s Week celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood. It is also a time for children to demonstrate their talents, skills and abilities (find out more about the history of Children’s Week).

The Office of the Advocate for Children and Young People (ACYP) is inviting entries for the NSW Children’s Week 2019 Creative Story Competition. ACYP and the NSW Children’s Week Committee is also encouraging nominations for the NSW Children’s Week 2019 Awards.

How you can get involved:

1. Spread the word about the Creative Story Competition:

If you know of any children and young people who would be interested in the competition and awards, you can invite them to get involved via the Creative Story Competition (details on the ACYP website).

Children are requested to write a creative story (200 to 500 words) about an issue that is important to them and to other children and young people in 2019.

Three winners (one winner for each age group: 0-5, 6-11, 12-18) will receive an award and $200 gift card at a special Children’s Week event.

2. Share the NSW Children’s Week 2019 Awards details or nominate someone who deserves recognition

Children, young people and adults can nominate an individual, group, service or project that falls within the award categories. There are seven awards for children and young people and three awards for adults.
