Effective governance and leadership within the sector underpins the success of individual services and collective impact on successful outcomes for children, families, and services.  

As a Peak Body for Early Childhood Education and Care, Community Early Learning Australia (CELA) has been appointed by the NSW Department of Education to deliver an interactive program of training and resources to support those responsible for governance and compliance in NSW Education and Care services.

This Governance & Compliance program will assist Approved Providers and NSW Education and Care services in understanding their governance and compliance responsibilities. 

Who can take part in the Governance & Compliance program

  • This program is relevant to all Approved Providers and leaders of NSW Education and Care services, such as boards, community-based committee members, service owners, Directors and PMC's.

Approved Provider Roles and Responsibilities for NSW Education and Care Services and Providers

This session covers:

  • Information relating to the roles and responsibilities of an Approved Provider,  
  • An introduction to the NQF and the regulatory responsibilities for Approved Providers under the National law and regulations, 
  • Discussion of sound regulatory practice under the National Quality Framework with reference to real life examples to identify quality governance practices.

Q&A will provide the opportunity for participants to engage with each other and the subject expert.   

During this session, participants will be introduced to a tool which helps inform of any skill gaps and areas where they need to grow their knowledge. The tool will also provide tips on how to best utilise resources so as knowledge is shared across people in positions of responsibility such as individual Approved Providers, boards, committees and leadership teams.
