Great Lakes Children’s Centre (“GLCC”) is a not-for-profit community-based pre-school and long day care centre in picturesque Forster, NSW on Worimi Land.

We provide a high-quality educational program across all age groups catering for children 6 weeks to a school age. The centre is licensed for up to 59 children across 4 rooms. We offer a play-based approach to learning with a strong emphasis on relationships, exploration and creativity, and caring for the natural world. GLCC continues to be rated as Exceeding the National Quality Standards.

GLCC is well established, financially stable and has been supporting the community for 46 years. We are a passionate and inclusive team of Educators and Support staff who are dedicated to delivering exceptional outcomes for our children, their families and the local community.



GLCC is seeking a collaborative, dynamic and compassionate centre Director who has the ability to lead and work alongside our established team of highly skilled Educators to take it to the next level.

The newly appointed Director will be required to manage the day-to-day operations of a busy centre whilst reporting regularly to the Management Committee regarding the National Quality Standards, centre operations and financial outcomes.

The role is primarily leadership, but a love for teaching is also a necessity for stepping in from time to time as the need arises. You will act as an advocate for early childhood education, children, and families in the wider community, and continue to foster our philosophy of play-based education.

The role is full-time 37.5 hours per week typically working Monday to Friday 8.30am-4pm with flexible working options available.

GLCC is offering a competitive remuneration package as per the Great Lakes Children’s Centre Teacher’s Collective Agreement 2020 which is well above the current Award rates.



With at least 5 years’ experience in a Nominated Supervisor / Director role, or extensive experience in a leadership position in an early childhood environment, you will be able to demonstrate your skills and abilities in administration, budgeting, curriculum and policy development, parent and community liaison, staff professional development and training, team building, and general management of staff.

This will be complimented by your exceptional and adaptive written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, as well as your professional presentation. As a dependable Educator and Director, you will be able to demonstrate your collaborative leadership style to deliver exceptional outcomes for all.


To be considered for this opportunity, you will possess the following essential qualifications, training, knowledge, and checks:

·       An approved Degree in Early Childhood Education (approved qualification by ACECQA)

·       NSW Working with Children (WWC) check and valid National Police Check

·       Accredited Child Protection training

·       Current First Aid Response in Education and Care Setting Certificate (HLTAID012)

·       A demonstrated working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Framework, Education and Care Services National Law Act (2010) and Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011), and adherence to all legislative requirements

The below experience would benefit the newly appointed Director, however they are not essential:

·       Having worked with the community-based model and with a parent committee

·       Experience with MYOB and Kindymanager software

·       Maintaining and reviewing a Quality Improvement Plan and leading assessment and rating

·       Previous experience working with children with additional needs
