Connect Child and Family Services Ltd (Connect) is a not-for-profit organisation helping families nurture and educate their children. Serving communities in the Blue Mountains, Lithgow, Hawkesbury and Western Sydney, we are committed to overcoming barriers to a child's development, their transition into school, and into community life. 

Lapstone Preschool is a 36 place preschool providing education for 3-6 year olds. Our program has been operating in Lapstone for over 50 years and in 2019 joined Connect. We are situated in a beautiful bush surrounding at the foot of the Mountains, where children’s creativity, knowledge and self-esteem is nurtured.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Early Childhood Teacher to fill a Full Time position at Lapstone Preschool. 


Essential Criteria

  • Hold an ACECQA Approved Early Childhood Teacher qualification (or be working towards).
  • Current First Aid Certificate, CPR, Anaphylaxis Management and Emergency Asthma Management Training.
  • Clear Working with Children Check.
  • Clear Police Check.
  • Approved Child Protection training certificate.

Essential Experience

  • Experience working in an approved education and care service.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum, supporting curriculum development and documenting children's learning and development.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in supporting the inclusion of all children within a co-constructed, child inspired environment.
  • Experience running Bush Kindergarten programs.


  • Ability to relate effectively with children and their families.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Sound communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning.
  • Reliable and punctual.

The benefits of distributed leadership at Euroka Children's Centre

What the Early Learning Work Matters project revealed

Reports of the ECEC workforce crisis, educator burnout, insufficient pay, and a lack of professional respect have recently been prevalent in the media. These reports are backed up by studies such as CELA’s Early Childhood Education and Care Workforce Survey Pulse Check, which showed that demand for places, alongside staff absences due to illnesses, professional fatigue and caring for sick family members, are impacting services’ capacity to operate.  

The University of Sydney is currently conducting a study called the Early Learning Work Matters Project (ELWM). The study aims to provide more information about educator workload and how it relates to quality education and care. This week we share results from the study’s initial phase and how you can share your experiences relating to workload through their survey.
