Early Education Specialist

Are you an early education professional looking for a new challenge? 

CELA is a member-based peak body for early and middle childhood education. We are currently looking for an Early Education Specialist to join our dynamic and innovative learning & development team. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who are currently working in the early childhood education and care sector as well as former directors and/or district managers of early childhood services. 

About the role 

What we do at CELA crosses all areas of early education service delivery and management. 

You will be working with a team of knowledgeable, innovative, and passionate people who come from a wide range of backgrounds. What has brought them together is their high-level sector knowledge, expertise and a genuine passion to grow the professionalism of the early education sector. 

CELA’s head office is based in George Street Sydney and currently has flexible working arrangements, where we combine working from home and office. This role is an ongoing full-time role. Expected start date early May. 

The type of activities you would be working on include but not limited to: 

  • Reviewing, designing and delivering training content for professional development 

  • Facilitation of training sessions, both online and in-person 

  • Developing and reviewing resources in line with current sector requirements 

  • Lead consultancy engagements with ECEC service providers and government agencies through our established consultancy practice 

  • Providing expert advice to members on service management and governance via our member support line 

  • Taking a lead role in project delivery as required 

  • Contribute to the quality assurance practices to ensure we maintain our internal standards in quality 

  • Proactively and collaboratively engaging in early education policy interpretation to enable informed expert advice 

  • Maintain current knowledge and deep understanding of sector laws, legislation, frameworks and funding models 

  • Contribute to special events as required 

 

If you consider yourself an ECEC generalist or an ECEC specialist across multiple areas, we would like to hear from you. 

 

Skills required: 

  • High level working knowledge of the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 and the Education and Care Services National Regulation Children’s Services Law and Regulations and the Assessment & Rating process 

  • High level working knowledge of the National Quality Framework and the National Quality Standards including the Assessment and Rating process 

  • High-level communication and organisation skills 

  • Understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to children’s services 

  • Experience in delivering training to ECEC service providers or to ECEC professionals 

  • Knowledge of service approval process for new services 

  • Currency in the children’s services sector 

  • Proficient technical skills in Microsoft office and aptitude to learn new technology tools quickly 

  • Knowledge of how to use online meeting platforms 

 

Your capabilities will include: 

  • Ability to build relationships and utilise your expertise to discuss client needs, as required, to recommend suitable and relevant professional development that addresses their needs 

  • Adaptable, highly organised, high-level attention to detail and time efficient 

  • High-level written and communication skills, including the ability to plan and follow tasks through to completion 

  • Ability to take initiative, work as part of a team and independently  

 

You will require: 

· Diploma or higher qualification in Early Education 

· Working with Children Check Clearance 

 

Desirable but not essential qualifications: 

· Training and Assessment TAE40116 

· CHCPRT025 Identify and Report Children and Young People at Risk
