CELA is pleased to see ministers in the new Federal Ministry who understand the value of community and small services, and are committed to delivering universal high quality early education and care.

Jason Clare will continue in his role as Minister for Education, building on landmark reforms over the past three years including the $3.6 billion wage increase, the Three Day Guarantee and $1 billion Building Early Education Fund.

Victorian Senator Jess Walsh has been appointed as Minister for Early Childhood Education. CELA worked closely with Minister Walsh to secure the federally funded $3.6 billion wage increase for early educators and teachers, as part of our intensive campaign to secure universal high quality early education and care. Her advocacy helped to prioritise landmark education and care reforms in the last term of Parliament.

We thank outgoing Minister Dr Anne Aly for her commitment to delivering major early education reforms that recognised the value of community and small providers. Dr Aly has been promoted into Cabinet with responsibility for small business, international development and multicultural affairs.

CELA looks forward to partnering with Ministers Clare and Walsh to unlock the potential of community and small providers including strengthening our workforce, sustainable funding reform and high quality service delivery.
