Research shows children are more likely to reach their full potential when their family and their educators work together (ACECQA).
Every family and family member is as unique as the child they enrol in the service. Building respectful, collaborative relationships with families needs to be at the heart of what educators do, to ensure quality outcomes for children.
Relationships expert Michelle Cuthbertson offers educators the opportunity to:
- Embrace the values of consultation, engagement and collaboration with families
- Reflect on their daily interactions and ongoing relationships with each family
- Consider ways to embed practices which are authentic and family-centred where families are shared decision makers
- Develop strategies to support families in their role of parenting
