Leaders play a vital role in creating a culture where children are heard, valued, and safe. In this webinar, you’ll learn how to strengthen governance, support staff, and embed practices that prevent harm and build trust. Together, we’ll explore practical tools and scenarios that help you lead with care and confidence.

This live webinar is Topic 2 in the three-part Creating Safer Childhoods series. Attend individually or complete all three sessions.

Overview

What you'll learn

Creating and sustaining a child safe culture is a shared responsibility across every early education service, but it is leaders who set the tone.

This live webinar explores what a child safe culture looks like under the NQF and the National Principles, and provides practical strategies for identifying and addressing institutional risk factors.

Using real-world examples, participants will learn how to strengthen governance, respond to reportable allegations, and embed ethical practices that protect children and build trust with families, staff, and communities.

What you will learn

  • Child safe culture principles and how they align with the latest NQF reforms
  • How to identify institutional risk factors, including unethical leadership and gaps in safeguarding practices
  • How to prevent grooming through clear role boundaries, effective supervision, and behaviour monitoring
  • Build confidence in handling reportable allegations, including thresholds, documentation, and staff support
  • Strengthen organisational culture through ethical governance, reflective practice, and ongoing monitoring.
Why you should attend

Create a safer environment for every child

Child safety is more than compliance, it's about building a culture where children are respected, heard, and protected.

Through audits, role plays, and group discussions, you will gain hands-on experience in identifying blind spots and leading with integrity when challenges arise. You will be better prepared to guide your service in meeting its legal, ethical, and cultural responsibilities, creating a safer environment for every child.
