NSW Child Safe Standards and Child Protection Overview - For educators, teachers and team members

Incredibly worthwhile and informative.

Kristin M

The NSW Child Safe Standards were developed following the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. These standards provide organisations with a framework for ensuring child safe organisations and guide services to drive cultural change and keep children safe from harm.

This interactive 3-hour workshop will help participants learn or refresh their knowledge of the NSW Child Safe Standards and Child Protection Legislation in early childhood education and care settings, identify current practices, and recognise areas for improvement when supporting the implementation of the Child Safe Standards in your service.

The workshop will encompass the key concepts of child protection legislation, mandatory reporting and harm and abuse types. It will also provide participants with information on responding to disclosure, ethics and the law and talking with families.

Participants will be given a curated online resource library that also includes a reflection tool to help assess current practices and improvements to be made against the 10 child safe standards. You will be working through this reflection tool throughout the session and leave with an invaluable document to take back to your service and start the conversation with your teams on how to improve child-safe practices within the service.

Note: We run a separate session on this topic for leaders, directors and nominated supervisors. Book here
