Acknowledging and Celebrating First Nations of Australia: A Starting Point - Webinar 2 Part Series

A guiding principle of the National Quality Framework (NQF) is that First Nations cultures are valued. But where do we begin, and how do we enable others to understand the importance of these rich and diverse cultures?

This workshop is designed to provide educators with a clearer understanding of how to acknowledge and celebrate First Nations Peoples of Australia. We will explore how to deliver respectful experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and languages, and who to engage with in order to embed authentic First Nations perspectives into your program.

This is a great workshop for those wanting to understand: Why services and individuals should acknowledge and celebrate First Nations Peoples of Australia, where and how to begin, and how to plan and deliver experiences for children that are also responsive to local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

NOTE: Teachers in Victoria, QLD, WA, SA, NT, and Tasmania who complete this course will be provided with a certificate and are able to use this course towards their maintenance of Registration requirements.

5 hour contribution

NESA ACCREDITED PD

Completing Acknowledging and Celebrating First Nations of Australia: A Starting Point will contribute 5 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Aboriginal education and supporting Aboriginal students/children addressing standard descriptor 2.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

  • Teachers attending this session must provide their NESA Teacher Accreditation number to CELA.
  • Teachers must attend for the duration of the session in order to receive the NESA Hours. CELA will be keeping records of attendance and participation during the session.
