Young children are growing up in a world where digital technology is ever-present. When used with purpose, it can enrich learning, deepen inquiry, and strengthen collaboration.

Overview

What you'll learn

This session explores how educators can move beyond passive screen use to create meaningful, engaging experiences that support children to investigate, explore, and learn together.

Highlights

What you'll take into practice

Participants will build their understanding of what effective, intentional use of technology looks like in early childhood pedagogy, with a focus on promoting active engagement in a social learning context. Through practical examples and reflective discussion, educators will consider how to use digital tools to support inquiry-based learning, foster collaboration, and enhance children’s thinking and creativity.

Critical reflection

This 2-hour session will support educators to critically reflect on their current practices and develop strategies to ensure technology is used as a purposeful tool that enriches, rather than replaces, hands-on and relational learning experiences.

Note

This course aligns to Standard 2 (Know the content and how to teach it) and Standard 3 (Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning) of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

This session provided amazing strategies for using technology in a more effective way, without feeling guilty or scared to express and explain it to parents.
