Drawing from current research in relation to how children’s brains grow and develop, this session will support you to identify a child’s stress related behaviour and develop an understanding of how the brain and body work together to create behavioural responses.

What you'll learn

During this session you will explore the structure and function of the triune brain and the limbic system, gaining insight into how these neurological systems influence emotional responses in young children. The session also highlights the powerful role of the environment in shaping children’s neurological states, helping you create responsive, supportive spaces that foster positive behaviour and wellbeing.

  • Explore the definition of Neuroscience in the learning frameworks.
  • Discuss the Triune Brain.
  • Explore and discuss stress responses and the impact on behaviour.
  • Identify and discuss key brain aspects, their impact on behaviour, and strategies to support children.
  • Discuss tools and resources to support key brain strategies.
