- Does using the word 'mathematics' in an ECE setting make you feel uncomfortable?
- What mathematical concepts are relevant in a play-based setting?
This session includes an overview of basic mathematics and numeracy skills to give educators the confidence to incorporate numeracy concepts and mathematical based experiences in a play-based program. You will have the opportunity to reflect on the use of learning environments to support the development of numeracy concepts, while being responsive to children’s abilities and interests while learning through play.
Educators will walk away with practical strategies and ideas for activities which will encourage children's curiosity for learning, problem solving and effective communication.
NOTE: Teachers in Victoria, QLD, WA, SA, NT, and Tasmania who complete this course will be provided with a certificate and are able to use this course towards their maintenance of Registration requirements.
