The course provided me with a number of strategies I could use, and I found the materials interesting and helpful.

Communicating well with children is essential to their development. Responsive communication helps babies and children feel safe and secure in their world and builds strong relationships.
As educators in a sometimes stressful and time poor environment, we can unintentionally fall into a pattern of verbally directing and demanding when interacting with young children. Great conversations make us feel good about ourselves and our place in the world, no matter how old we are. Orders, directions, and demands can make us feel resentful and annoyed.
Participants will explore 5 strategies to enhance their interactions and conversations with children. There will be an opportunity to reflect on current practice to identify ways to optimise meaningful conversations with children.
Who would benefit most from this training?
This session can support educators with their skills in communicating with children. Feedback from participants has noted that this session would be useful for new educators and those wanting to refresh their skills in communicating with children.
NOTE: Teachers in Victoria, QLD, WA, SA, NT, and Tasmania who complete this course will be provided with a certificate and are able to use this course towards their maintenance of Registration requirements.
