Behind every behaviour is an emotion. Recognising, labelling, and managing the emotion is the key to reframing the behaviour.
During this session, relationship and behaviour consultant Michelle Cuthbertson outlines the principles of emotion coaching and self-regulation and examines how educators can use associated strategies in their day-to-day relationships with all children, including those who present with behaviours of concern.β―
Educators will be given the opportunity to:
- Consider the emotional sources of behaviours
- Learn how and when to ‘emotion coach’, to support children to respond in socially appropriate ways
- Understand the development of Self-Regulation and how adults can support this development through Co-regulation
