Note: This course supersedes CHCPRT001 Identify and Respond to Children and Young People at risk
Gain your child protection certification with the course that sets the standard for the sector
Services have an ongoing responsibility to ensure that their nominated supervisor and staff members who work with children maintain up-to-date knowledge of child protection law (Reg 84). This unit from the CHC Community Services Training Package meets this requirement.
CELA's certified child protection course covers everything early childhood education professionals need to know in order to feel confident and capable when it comes to child protection, no matter their level of experience in the sector.
CELA has been delivering child protection training as a Registered Training Organisation for over 10 years, and as a peak body for early education and care, we have been trusted by hundreds of services to educate their teams on this topic.
Our 3-part, NESA Accredited live webinar series covers legal requirements, including the responsibilities of mandatory reporters. You will learn how to identify significant harm, the dynamics of abuse and risk factors, and all reporting requirements for the early childhood sector (our information focus is NSW, but we provide relevant reporting information for participants from other states). Participants will find out how to provide child-safe environments and learn about practical approaches to supporting children who have experienced abuse, neglect or trauma.
Participants who successfully complete the related assessment task will be issued with a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for this unit. This SOA is Nationally Recognised. CELA RTO 90842 is not a CRICOS provider. We currently only accept enrolments of domestic students. Students must be working (either paid or as a volunteer) in a registered children’s service to meet the assessment requirements.
Please note: This course is only open to Australian citizens or permanent residents. By booking this course you declare that you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
What our customers say about this course:
When it came time to select a training provider for our team's child protection certification, CELA stood out as a clear choice due to their reputation.
Our team was particularly impressed with the live webinar series. It was, without a doubt, the most comprehensive child protection training we've ever participated in. Unlike previous courses we've experienced, CELA's approach was refreshingly engaging and thorough. The webinar didn’t just cover the essentials; it provided a deep dive into the historical context of child protection, clearly outlining the various reporting channels and their purposes.
To anyone considering booking this course with CELA, I can't recommend it enough. The quality and depth of the training are exceptional. In fact, we've already planned to enrol more team members in their additional training sessions this year. CELA has truly set a new standard in child protection training.

Why should certificates be verified?
Students can apply for credit transfer for a unit of competency or portions of courses when enrolling in competency-based training in other RTOs. RTOs will verify the validity of these certificates to determine if the student is entitled to a credit transfer. This process can also apply to some university qualifications.
Employers (ECEC service providers) should include certificate verification as part of their recruitment process. This ensures that the certificates and qualifications presented are true, valid, and accurate. Certificate verification can be part of the implementation of child-safe standards (standard 5).
