CHCPRT025 Identify and Report Children and Young People at Risk (RTO ID 90842) - Self-Paced Online

Note: This course supersedes CHCPRT001 Identify and Respond to Children and Young People at risk

Study CHCPRT025 online at your own pace with live weekly support sessions from sector experts.

Services have an ongoing responsibility to ensure that their nominated supervisor and staff members who work with children maintain up-to-date knowledge of child protection law (Reg 84). This unit from the CHC Community Services Training Package meets this requirement.

CELA has been delivering child protection training as a Registered Training Organisation for over 10 years, and as a peak body for early education and care, we have been trusted by hundreds of services to educate their teams on this topic.

Our self-paced course covers legal requirements, including the responsibilities of mandatory reporters. You will learn how to identify significant harm, the dynamics of abuse and risk factors, and all reporting requirements for the early childhood sector (our information focus is NSW, but we provide relevant reporting information for participants from other states). Participants will learn what is required to provide child-safe environments, as well as practical approaches to supporting children who have experienced abuse, neglect or trauma.

Participants who successfully complete the related assessment task will be issued with a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for this unit. This SOA is Nationally Recognised.

Please note: This course is only open to Australian citizens or permanent residents. By booking this course you declare that you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Other notes about this course:

This course supersedes CHCPRT001 - Identify and Respond to Children and Young People at Risk. CHCPRT025 Identify and report children and young people at risk is a new non-equivalent Unit of Competency (UoC).

This new unit has been written by CELA's team of child protection specialists including early childhood education and care professionals, early childhood teachers and family court professionals.

You will need to formally enrol in our student management system before commencing this course. A link to your electrocnic enrolment form will be provided to you in your booking confirmation email.

  • Barriers to reporting child abuse and disclosures
  • Professional boundaries

You and the holder of the certificate will receive an email with the verification status.

Why should certificates be verified?

Students can apply for credit transfer for a unit of competency or portions of courses when enrolling in competency-based training in other RTOs. RTOs will verify the validity of these certificates to determine if the student is entitled to a credit transfer. This process can also apply to some university qualifications.

Employers (ECEC service providers) should include certificate verification as part of their recruitment process. This ensures that the certificates and qualifications presented are true, valid, and accurate. Certificate verification can be part of the implementation of child-safe standards (standard 5).
