Our senses tell our story….. processing incoming sensory information from our environment.
Our sensory system is part of our nervous system responsible for processing sensory information. Receiving and interpreting information through these senses is how we engage with the world around us. During the early years, babies and children are exploring these senses and learning to process the information constantly to complete more complex tasks. Our sensory environment, in conjunction with the physical and temporal environment plays a significant role in our experiences and guides our interactions.
Embedding sensory integration experiences into to the environment and curriculum ensures you are developing and cultivating skills through play. This session reflects on the importance of sensory play and experiences that are embedded within the environment to ensure the nerve connection in the brain’s pathways needed to develop sensory processing.
ECFgroup explores our physical, sensory and temporal environments in relation to our sensory system. Learning through the senses is from our ‘Making Spaces Learning Places’ series.
