Are you ready to recognise, support and extend children’s emerging literacy skills in meaningful, everyday ways?

This session will build your confidence to identify early literacy development, understand the difference between learning to read and reading to learn, and apply practical strategies to embed literacy across your program.

Overview

What you'll learn

Literacy is a vital form of communication that underpins all learning, and it begins long before children learn to read and write. This session explores how educators can recognise and support emerging literacy skills through intentional, responsive practice. Grounded in the Early Years Learning Framework (V2.0), participants will deepen their understanding of literacy as the capacity, confidence and disposition to use language in all its forms.

Highlights

What you'll take into practice

Educators will explore how literacy develops alongside other key skills, unpack the difference between learning to read and reading to learn, and gain practical strategies to embed literacy into everyday experiences. This session will strengthen your ability to plan, assess and extend children’s literacy learning in authentic and engaging ways.

Clear, concise, interesting and interactive. I loved that the facilitator made it interactive using fun games, this got us all involved and thinking. Deborah
