The session was really engaging and really had me thinking about our practices. Debra is such an engaging facilitator, which really made it such an amazing training session!

Are you aware of the UN Convention on the Rights of the child and how it relates to your practice, relationships and interactions with children?
This session explores the concept of the rights of the child and looks at its links to the EYLF, Code of Ethics and the National Quality Standards.
Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on Standard 5.1.2 ‘The dignity and rights of every child are maintained’ and its implications for practice. We will discuss strategies for embedding the rights of the child in daily practices, programs and relationships.
Participants will also be provided with:
- Examples of how organisations have listened to children authentically and honoured their rights.
- Questions to provoke critical reflection with other team members about what a rights-based approach looks like in practice.
- Resources to help further thinking and conversation including the UN Convention on the Right of the Child and ECA Code of Ethics.
NOTE: Teachers in Victoria, QLD, WA, SA, NT, and Tasmania who complete this course will be provided with a certificate and are able to use this course towards their maintenance of Registration requirements.
