This 2-hour-session will examine the concepts of equity, inclusion and high expectations, and the importance of each topic.
We will explore the research behind the EYLF principle, as well as linking it to the National Quality Standards, the UN Convention on the Rights of the child, and explore tangible ways we can change our practice to better cater to the needs of the diverse families attending our services.
Participants will have the opportunity to:

Consider why equity, inclusion and high expectations are important in early childhood practice.

Develop an understanding of what equity, inclusion and high expectations means to practice in an early childhood setting.

Consider ways in which their practice could change to be more equitable, inclusive and display higher expectations for children.

Explore ongoing critical reflection and review of equitable and inclusive practices in early childhood environments.

Learn ways in which other services embed inclusion, equity and high expectations.

Completing Bringing the EYLF V2.0 to Life: Equity, Inclusion and High Expectations in Practice will contribute 2 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Delivery and Assessment of NSW Curriculum/EYLF addressing Standard Descriptor(s) 2.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
