This session was previously known as 'Bringing the EYLF V2.0 to Life: Play Based Learning and Intentionality in Practice', however the content remains the same.
Are you ready to learn more about what intentionality looks like in play-based learning environments?
How do we engage in children’s play with intentionality, without encroaching on or taking over children’s play?
The Early Years Learning framework (EYLF) reminds us that “play-based learning with intentionality can expand children’s thinking and enhance their desire to know and to learn, promoting positive dispositions towards learning” (AGDE, 2022, p. 21).
In this 2-hour session we will look closely at intentionality and our role as the intentional educator in play. We will explore practical intentional strategies to bring the child’s play to life to enhance and extend learning.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Explore types of play, what play-based learning is defined as in research literature, and the difference between play-based learning and play.
- Examine the role of the intentional educator in children’s play-based learning.
- Develop an understanding of intentional pedagogy and how educators can use intentional strategies to extend learning.

NOTE: Teachers in Victoria, QLD, WA, SA, NT, and Tasmania who complete this course will be provided with a certificate and are able to use this course towards their maintenance of Registration requirements.

Principles in Action: Equity, Inclusion and High Expectations
- How can early childhood professionals ensure that their services are inclusive and equitable to all families?
- Can children with additional needs from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds engage in the program at the same level as their peers?
Inclusion, equity and high expectations is a challenging topic for most educators, but there are many ways that we can change our practice to benefit all families and children attending our services!
This 2-hour-session will explore the concepts of equity, inclusion and high expectations, and help educators to reflect on these concepts and their current practice.
